The Comprehensive Schools for Ballymun were first planned in the late 1960’s. Initially two separate
single-sex Schools were envisioned and this idea finally developed into a co-educational structure with a shared facilities area to accommodate 750 boys & girls up to Intermediate Certificate.
After a brief period in Prefab Units, the new Comprehensive School welcomed Students in 1971, the Official Opening took place in March 1973.
A few years later a Senior Comprehensive School was built on the opposite side of the Ballymun Road to accommodate 500 boys & girls to Leaving Cert Level. The Comprehensive Schools were divided into :
The Girls Junior Comprehensive School
The Boys Junior Comprehensive School
The Senior Comprehensive School, each with its own separate teaching & management staff.
In 2005 the three Comprehensive Schools amalgamated to form a single co-ed Secondary School
under the new name of Trinity Comprehensive School. An extensive refurbishment of the old Junior Boys & Girls Comprehensive School Building was completed and the new school boasted state of the art facilities including,
